“We wanted to create a space where children have the very best experiences and their days are filled with fun, creativity, love and learning”
Cavendish Lodge Nursery School is owned by local Lewin Road residents Jodie and Kevin Potter. After the birth of their lovely twin girls, the Potters started their search for local nursery provisions but struggled to find anything that met their needs and expectations. After a long discussion, they decided to take on the ambitious project of opening their very own nursery in early 2007 with their core values and high standards at its heart.
Uppermost in their minds was that the children have the very best start in life with days filled with fun, creativity, love and learning. No expense was spared, and the Potters created a wonderful environment with lots of special child-focussed details to explore and fascinate.
Jodie’s creative skills coupled with Kevin’s entrepreneurial spirit and a whole load of determination set the nursery up for the success it is today and Cavendish Lodge Nursery School quickly gained an enviable reputation within South West London. Soon enough, due to popularity, the nursery reached capacity and when the opportunity arose to buy the disused health clinic opposite, they jumped at the chance. It was then, in September 2010 that the second nursery building, Dove House, opened its doors.
Jump to present day and both nursery sites, Dove House and Cavendish Lodge, are consistently rated Outstanding by Ofsted and we pride ourselves on creating a lovely community for local families.
To ensure excellent professional practice, the two nursery sites are managed by a team of highly-qualified and experienced staff. They are registered with Ofsted (Cavendish Lodge registration number is EY 338408; Dove House registration number is EY 413099) and with Lambeth Council and is a member of the National Day Nurseries Association.
We work hard to bring out the best in all the children in our care, providing lots of tools, routines and resources to make their days busy, happy and stimulating. Using the curriculum guidelines laid down in the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage, we plan daily activities appropriate for each age range to encourage learning and development through play. Our children get lots of positive encouragement; they learn practical and creative skills, how to share and concentrate, good table manners and lots of other social and educational skills that provide a firm foundation for life.
Parents are encouraged to use our approach at home to provide consistency, with staff always on hand to advise how best to achieve this.
"The quality of teaching is outstanding. Staff have an excellent knowledge of supporting children's development." Ofsted, 2016
